Former Hermitage Treasures at the National Gallery of Art
Students learn about Russian Hermitage paintings at the National Gallery of Art.
The Carmel Institute invites students from the聽聽to apply for awards to defray the costs of instructor-led Russian language programs during the summer of 2024. The funds will be distributed to successful applicants upon proof of acceptance to a program.聽The deadline for applications is April 22.
Applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a Washington, DC-area Consortium partner institution. Applications will be assessed based on the academic record and an application essay.
To apply, assemble the information listed below and complete the appropriate form:聽
the email address you prefer for communications about your application
your major and any minor fields you intend or have declared
your year of postsecondary study (undergraduate rank or graduate year)
if you are a graduate student: where, when, and in what field your undergraduate degree was earned
your overall GPA and major GPA in your current program
your current Russian language facility level
the Russian language program(s) you intend to enroll in and apply these funds
an estimate of the costs for your desired Russian language program
essay of no more than 500 words explaining how your proposed program contributes to or expands your academic interests and career goals.
all college-level academic transcripts (unofficial versions, including screen image captures are acceptable)
聽- AU students can copy and paste their essay and upload the transcripts in the form itself.
聽- non-AU students can copy and paste their essay but need to email all transcripts to聽carmelinstitute@american.edu.
